Title
Qumran: pottery vessels
Description
The jars in this picture are the same type of jar inside of which the scrolls from Cave 1 were found. Its unusual shape suggests that it may have been made specifically for storing scrolls. The same sort of pottery, as well as a potter's kiln, were discovered in the Qumran settlement, creating another link between the inhabitants of the settlement and the Dead Sea Scrolls themselves.
