Title
Dead Sea
Description
The Dead Sea, which is the lowest place on earth (1,388 feet below sea level), received its name from the fact that its high salinity precludes almost anything from living in it. Water flows into it from various sources, including the Jordan River, and cannot flow out. As a result the water absorbs many minerals from the ground before it evaporates, leaving salt and mineral formations behind.
