Title
Jerusalem: Temple Mount
Description
In this photograph the Dome of the Rock is visible in the upper left and the dome of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is visible in the upper right. Below them, Robinson's Arch is visible, springing out of the Western Wall (to the left). The tower rising up at the center of the photo is a minaret (a tower used by the announcer of Muslim prayers), built by the Mamluks in the 14th century for the Fachariya ('women's') Mosque on the Temple Mount. In this photograph, the lighter brown color is indicative of earlier remains that have recently been excavated.
