This map shows the demographics of modern Jerusalem by color. The total population is over 800,000 with about 65% Jewish (blue) and 32% Arab (yellow). Pictured also are two important lines: (1) the red-dotted line marks the municipal boundary of the 1949 Rhodes Armistice Agreement, demarcating the Israeli controlled area from 1949-1967; (2) the solid black line encompasses an enlarged municipal boundary, showing the area under Israeli control since the 1967 Six-Day War, in which Israel captured the West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan. Importantly, the Old City and the Temple Mount are in the Israeli occupied territory east of the 1949 red-dotted line. Jerusalem is at the center of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as both groups consider it their capital.
