St. Catherine's Monastery: Codex Sinaiticus

This photograph shows a page from the Codex Sinaiticus, which was created in the 4th century CE. The extant pages (400 of an estimated 730) contain the oldest complete manuscript of the New Testament. It was found at St. Katherine's Monastery in the Sinai Desert and procured under controversial circumstances by Konstantin von Tischendorf in the 19th century.
